Applicants must be in sustained recovery (no return to use) for 12 months before taking the CPSS training.
For the purposes of these programs, the eligibility clock does not begin until someone is living in their own apartment, with family, recovery housing, etc.
If an applicant has been in a correctional facility, their formal eligibility criteria as it relates to recovery start day begins upon their release date.
Applicants are required to have a steady employment history (does not matter what the job is, as long as it is a legal form of employment). Periods of being laid off do not count against the applicant.
Peer support specialists are working with people in early recovery. These individuals are highly vulnerable and need to be placed with PSS who can be an asset to the participants holistic development by demonstrating sustained recovery on their own and a history of work while in recovery.
Applicants who do not meet the criteria can still apply and we will hold their applications so that they can reconnect with us once they are eligible.
Applicant must have High School Diploma or Equivalent
